Molecular Structure Lab Objective: For this experiment we took two different molecule and virtually dissected them finding everything about them including: bond length, bond angles, the charge on each atom, the non bonded distances between atoms and the energy difference between the highest and lowest molecular orbital. Procedure: The procedure is to use HyperChem Lite to get the information needed from each molecule. But explained in full on page 16 and 17 in the lab manual. Data: The following data was found about CH4 (methane). †¢Ã‚     The bond length from Carbon to all four Hydrogen atom was the same measurement that came to be about 1.113Ã… †¢Ã‚     Not only are the lengths between all the Hydrogen atoms to the Carbon atoms the same so are the angles between the hydrogen atoms, all coming out to be about 109.47 °. †¢Ã‚     The non-bonded distances between all the parts of the molecule are 1.818Ã…. †¢Ã‚     The charge on the Carbon atom is -.143 †¢Ã‚     All of the hydrogen atoms have the same charge being .036 The following data was collected by HyperChem Lite for C2H5OH (ethanol). †¢Ã‚     All the distances between bonded Carbon and Hydrogen atoms were 1.115Ã…. †¢Ã‚     The distance of the bonded oxygen (3) to hydrogen (9) was .942Ã…. †¢Ã‚     The distance between bonded Carbon (1) to Oxygen (3) was 1.40Ã…. †¢Ã‚     Bond angle 5,1,4 was 109.8 ° †¢Ã‚     Bond angle 3,1,2 was 108.9 ° †¢Ã‚     Bond angle 6,2,8 was 107.9 ° †¢Ã‚     The smallest non-bonded distance was between atoms 9 (hydrogen) and 6 (hydrogen) it was 4.067Ã…. †¢Ã‚     The largest distance between two atoms was from 6 to 8 1.802Ã…. †¢Ã‚     The charge on the Carbon atoms were: Carbon 1=.466, and Carbon 2=-.076 †¢Ã‚     Hydrogen charges were as follows: Hydrogen’s 4,5=-.004, 6=.021, 7,8=.020, and the charge of hydrogen 9=.447 †¢Ã‚     And lastly the charge on the oxygen atom was -.891 Calculations: Formulas used in the lab†¦ E = hv = hc/ 1 ev = 1.6022E-19 Joules E is the energy difference between the highest occupied and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (HOMO and LUMO). h = Plank’s constant = 6.63E-34 Js c = speed of light = 3.00E8 m/s formal charge = number of valence electrons – (# of unshared electrons + # of bonds) Volume of an ellipsoid is V = /6 (a + 1Ã…)(b+1Ã…)(c+1Ã…) = xÃ…3 A,b,and c are the skeletal lengths of the molecule. CH4 E = (-15.51ev)-(-24.49ev) = 8.98ev = 1.44E-18 J = hc/E = (6.63E-34 Js)(3.00E8 m/s)/(1.44E-18 J) = 1.38E-7 m = 138nm The wavelength of CH4 is 138nm and this resides in the ultra-violet spectrum and is not visible to the naked eye. The United States entered the war with something to prove, and enough attitude behind them to make a difference. Men and women alike flocked to volunteer after such events like Pearl Harbor, and once the men had left to fight the big fight, women found themselves left behind. The psychological day to day of these women is a seemingly insurmountable mountain of odds all stacked on top of each other. People were worried about losing everything, about the spread of Hitler and his fascist ways. Wartime weddings in the midst of a questionable tomorrow left thousands upon thousands of women without their husbands. In a time of war with their loved ones off to face the Axis monsters, there arose a fear of helplessness and abandonment. As women across the nation were charging forth beneath a mountain of circumstances, looking closer at African American women left on t he Homefront reveals an added layer of struggle for them due to the color of their skin. Civil Rights movement was still two decades in the future, but that did not stop the infectious spirit that drove African American women living in the United States to volunteer. It is only natural in this time for the push back against them to be greater than the pushback against white women. African-American women would apply for jobs alongside white women and be told they either did not get the job or could accept an opening in a lesser or more demeaning job. There was a hierarchy in companies, and African-American women checked enough boxes to be at the very bottom of the list. Any cutbacks or layoffs would be primarily focused within the already struggling minority workforce, with the idea that any black woman hired would be the first fired. This resulted in them receiving the most grueling and bottom-rung jobs, such as janitorial positions at factories where white women were getting to pla y Rosie the Riveter. From my end, I can volunteer to help with the accounting department of this organization by doing the basic book keeping or data entry so that I can be working with people who know the field and gain more experience. Justification This is the most relevant charitable organization for my specific career search because I actually go there to pray and study, therefore it would be a good deed for me to volunteer and give my time to the community and also it will allow me to learn and get the on hand experience that I am looking for in order to pursue my career plans. In order to get as much information as possible I looked up an association that is relevant to my career choice. Justification This is the most relevant association repertoire for my specific job search because when I find all these different associations, I can contact them (either electronically or in person) so that I can ask questions about my future career plans. Since this is a Canadian association repertoire, it is easy for me to find the information I need because I want to work in Montreal. CONCLUSION In conclusion, this report states what I need to do to launch my career and help me gain as much information and experience as I can before I graduate and become a chartered accountant in the city of Montreal. It Aint Me Babe by The Turtles free essay sample
In the time when teenagers bought singles instead of full albums, full albums were still made. More often than not they were merely a cheap gathering of that group’s singles, arranged in no particular order. The Turtles’ debut album It Ain’t Me Babe is no exception. Alone, most of the songs carry their weight, but as an album it has no flow, and the flip-flopping between the album’s manufactured pop hits and the tunes bordering on folk rock are at times a bit too much to handle. Most of the density of the album comes from the four Bob Dylan covers, including the title track â€Å"It Ain’t Me Babe†. Their cover took the original love ballad and turned it into a song that sounds like it’s rejoicing the fact that he’s not right for her, and launched The Turtles into stardom. The rest of the songs are a wide range of tunes, from stereotypical pop singles to songs that have a great deal of thought behind them.
